Customer-Based Charitable Contributions
PSS World Medical, Inc. supports legitimate charitable activities for and by its current and potential Customers. The most common types of Customer-Based Charitable Contributions that we make are for:
- Educational activities
- Fundraising events:
- Golf Tournaments
- Gala dinners
- Product donations for foreign charitable missions
We also make monetary contributions for activities that do not fall within one of the above categories.
Important Message for Customers
The federal government says that any connection between charitable contributions and past or future purchases could be perceived as a violation of the anti-kickback statute.
Please do not imply that any future purchase is contingent upon PSS World Medical, Inc. making a charitable contribution. In this situation, our company would be unable to make the charitable contribution, even if the request meets our guidelines.
Thank you for helping us comply with all federal and state regulations when making payments to or on behalf of a customer.
Eligibility
The following Customer-Based Charitable Contributions criteria will apply to all decisions to grant or deny a request:
- Will benefit health care; promote the health and wellbeing of children; and/or serve a genuine educational function.
- Does not pay for operating expenses or capital improvements or acquisitions, such as building, renovating or equipping a recipient's facilities.
- Is not for an awards, alumni, or other recognition event sponsored by a Customer, unless it is included as part of a fundraising event that satisfies all other applicable requirements.
- Is not implicitly or explicitly linked to an agreement of a Customer to purchase, use, order, recommend, or make referrals for PSSWM products or used to reward past purchases, uses, orders, recommendations, or referrals.
- Does not exceed the charitable activity's anticipated costs by itself or in combination with other expected sources of financial support from other third parties.
- Is not unreasonable in light of the amount of other previous donations to the requestor or recipient for other charitable activities during the prior twelve months.
- Creates a reasonable appearance of legal or ethical motive.
- Is consistent with our charitable contribution policies.
